- Look at the joints on butterfly legs. Now look at your legs. How many sections do we have on our legs? How are those sections useful to us? How are they useful to butterflies?
- Ask your students if they can imagine breathing through their sides!
- How does the butterfly see, hear, feel, taste, and touch? How is it similar to the way we use our
senses? How is it different? (See anatomy and
vocabulary on pages 8 and 9.)
- What are the names of the body parts a butterfly uses? Do we have the same body parts? (See anatomy and vocabulary on pages 8 and 9.)
- Think of your gums and teeth - in regard to the caterpillar's mandible (jaw). Can you see the caterpillar chew, using its mandible?
