Morelet's Crocodile (Crocodylus moreletii)

The Morelet's crocodile is a small crocodile, seldom more than 10 feet long. It lives mostly in freshwater lakes, rivers and ponds, and is almost always shy and timid, Some of the largest adults are bolder and are considered dangerous to humans. Before 1981, the Morelet's crocodile was hunted for its skin and few remained. Since hunting was stopped, the population has rebounded.
